Chapter 278

I started my day slowly, and in the early afternoon I headed to the hospital to do the nucleic acid test. I’m not even sure if I absolutely have to do it or I merely got yinggaishurred by the liaison officer at the school but I went along. It only took a few minutes, so there’s that. Then I headed to the Temple Of Iron and underwent my rite of prayer, with deadlifts, T-bar rows, weighted pull-ups and other accessory exercises. I felt great for the remainder of the day, with a nice pump, a boost of endorphins, and a sense of accomplishment.

I started exchanging messages with the guy who runs the Nunavut-based black metal radio show, and the pictures he posted online of the tundra and northern lights really triggered my curiosity. I spent the early evening watching videos on YouTube about people traveling to or living in remote Canadian Arctic communities, it’s quite a special place to be in. The girlfriend watched some of them with me, and at some point there was a sign with inuktitut writings on it. “What is that bibadibabadiboo? Wo cao! It’s even more creepier than the Allah language!” I then pointed out that her own language uses a more convoluted writing system than likely all languages on Earth combined. “But... it’s different! Chinese characters make sense! This is... just a bunch of squares and circles!”

Her very blunt way of speaking entertains me a lot, and I enjoy hearing her observations on foreign cultures when we travel. She also noticed that the Inuit, when they’re children or elderly, look exactly like Chinese people. I added “Well, when proto-humans started moving east 50 000 years ago and became yellow, some turned right and settled in Asia, but some went straight ahead and crossed into Alaska” “...and they started writing with circles and triangles, and saying *glak glak glak glak*!”

I’d love to go visit some day, too bad it seems to be on the wrong side of prohibitively expensive for the most part. And living there would come with serious drawbacks, I imagine you start missing civilization pretty quickly, not to mention the crazy high prices for everything and the strange schedule with endless summer days and endless winter nights.

I then watched a bit of wrassling, from the AEW All Out PPV. There was one match between the Young Bucks and the Lucha Brothers that I particularly liked, with high pacing and tons of really cool spots. I heard from a few fans that AEW offers a better product than the WWE these days, and for sure, smaller star power aside, they don’t seem like a B-league to me.

Chapter 365 - The End

Last day of the year. I woke up a bit before 7, took the dog out, and went to work. Same scenario you read about hundreds of times. We got...
