I got up at
6:30 and walked the dog. He peed and pooed in his usual spots, he’s now very
good at holding it in and only do his potty work outdoors, but once in a while
he’ll climb on the couch, look at me with a “Now what, motherfucker?!” expression
on his ugly triangle face, and empty his bladder.
The
girlfriend left and I still had half an hour to do my ablutions and get ready.
I put on the album Considered Dead by Gorguts, which was celebrating its 30th
anniversary (it came out the same day as Effigy of the Forgotten by
Suffocation, quite the day for death metal). It was absolutely excellent, and
once again I’m a bit saddened that Gorguts is mostly known for Obscura, yeah
yeah yeah it’s got a high artistic value and can be enjoyable under the right
circumstances but it’s just way too chaotic and experimental. I’m really
getting into Gorguts, I haven’t heard a bad album from them.
Then I got
to school. Catatonic Class and Crazy Class both had lab sessions, and they did
quite well overall. I went home for lunch, ate an avocado toast, a tomato
sandwich and slices of bacon, it was delicious. I hope I never get sent to a
gulag, I imagine the people there rarely if ever eat avocado toast, tomato
sandwiches and bacon.
In the
afternoon I had a class with the strong eleventh grade group, they’re now a
full two weeks ahead of the other groups, which is quite a feat, since we’ve
been in school for only five weeks now. I have one extra period with them every
week while the economics teacher is still away, and I asked the principal about
it, he said it’s because of the department of education, they haven’t cleared
him yet to come and be in contact with students. Yet, he’s finished his two
weeks of quarantine, and can move freely around the city. It makes no goddamn
sense, but we live in a world where logic and reason are dead and rotten.
Between
classes, I did some prepping and homework grading while listening to the Metal
Minded podcast. I was intrigued by some of the albums that were reviewed, so
after I got home, I downloaded them and uploaded them to my mp3 player before
heading to the Church of Iron. I did my lifts while listening to the dissonant
death metal from Replicant, and the thrash from Black Mass. Both albums pleased
me.
Mama-in-law sent us two big styrofoam boxes full of meat, and I went to retrieve them. So nice of her. I stored it in the fridge and freezer, then I took the dog out in the light rain, showered, and ate sardines, crackers and dumplings while watching a documentary called Cornered. It’s about a British journeyman boxer with a 4-96 record, the kind of guy to fight every few weeks, sometimes on very short notice, to test young prospects. It’s weird, it’s not as if he loses on purpose, but he knows that he gets booked with the understanding that he’ll lose. Interesting little doco, though at times I felt the need for subtitles.
